Members of the Ogun State Coordinate of All Progressives Congress Youth League have been advised to key into the various Agricultural Revolution initiatives of the state government.
Coordinator of the League, Comrade Olamide Lawal gave the advice during the monthly meeting of Local government Coordinators of the league in Abeokuta, recently
According to Lawal, this step was necessary given that government may not be able to accommodate as many unemployed youths into the state Civil service.
He said youths have the option of becoming self independent by embracing agriculture, adding that the administration was concerned about youths development.
“Government has alot of ongoing agricultural programmes that are tailored towards ensuring food sufficiency and we can benefit from them, as forms of empowerment. If we can key into this, we may not need to depend on white collar job again.
“Among these initiatives are the anchor borrowers program, broiler projects, rice projects, and palm oil, amongst others.”
Lawal was optimistic that harnessing prospects in the sector would boost the fortune of all especially this time when government was determined to make Ogun to overtake Benue in becoming the food basket of the nation.
Present at the meeting were representatives of local governments in the state, taking cognisance of COVID-19 containment guidelines
