Barring any last minute change, the Senate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has on Monday voted Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as its new Acting Vice-Chancellor.
Ogunsola is reputed to be the first female Vice- chancellor of the institution.
Aged 62, Ogunsola is a Nigerian Professor of Medical Microbiology.
She specializes in disease control, particularly HIV/AIDS.
She is also the immediate past provost of College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
She is the first daughter of Nigeria’s foremost Geography scholar,Prof Akin Mabogunje from Owu ,Egba.
Ogunsola election today came after President Muhammadu Buhari stepped into the leadership tussle that has been rocking the institution for a while.
The fracas led to the sack of the former Vice- Chancellor, Professor Olawatoyin Ogundipe, and produced as a tentative one, Prof. Omololu Soyombo who was later removed after Buhari waded in.
