The Senate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has voted Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as its new Acting Vice-Chancellor.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services) polled 135 votes compared to Prof. Ben Oghojafor’s 31 votes.
A total of 167 Professors were at the Senate meeting to vote for a new acting VC after the resignation of Prof. Soyombo.
Oghojafor is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Management Services.
Ogunsola was the first woman to be the Provost College of the Medicine University of Lagos before she became DVC in the university.
UNILAG has been embroiled in leadership battle for weeks now before President Muhammadu Buhari stepped-in.
The President later set up a panel to investigate the clash between Prof. Toyin Ogundipe, sacked Vice Chancellor of the university and Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).
Ogunsola, 62 is a professor of medical microbiology. She’s a specialist in Disease Control and majors in the control of HIV/AIDS.
She graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where she had her first degree and later had her doctorate degree at the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.
