Director General and Chief Executive Officer of
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, has analyzed the damages caused by the Gas Station explosion that rocked Baruwa-Ipaja Area, early this morning.
Osanyintolu in a press statement stated that the inferno has been contained while the gas emission has been identified and curtailed.

Osanyintolu noted that the agency investigation indicates that the incident was entirely avoidable as it was caused by carelessness on the part of the operators.
He said, “The post disaster assessment is as follows: 5 Fatalities recovered, 8 casualties with major burns who have been transferred to the Gbagada General Hospital Burns Unit.
“25 houses damaged of which 10 are classified as “Severely Affected”, 16 Shops was razed by the fire, 1 Private Primary School, 1 Hotel affected, 3 Vehicles affected comprising of a pickup truck, tricycle and motorcycle.
“The LASEMA Team are presently undergoing clearing and securing of the affected areas by joint teams of responders.”
He urged lagosians to report any unsavory and dangerous practices within their neighborhoods to relevant agencies which include Lagos Safety Commission, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency.
This he said would enable government to engage in more prevention and precautionary measures including issuing contravention notices and sealing up premises to prevent avoidable disasters.
