The Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Ode remo police station in Ogun State, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi has been commended for his heroic deed that led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in an accident scene.
Three suspected armed robbers reportedly snatched the vehicle from the owner at a gun point in Ondo state but they ran out of luck after they were involved in an accident at Ode remo, a community in Ogun state.
Meanwhile, the DPO of Ode remo, CSP Fasogbon on getting to the scene of the accident suspected that the accidented vehicle was stolen which was later confirmed by a tip-off from an impeccable source.
The DPO followed up on the tip off which he was able to confirm and trace the owner of the vehicle.
Giving further details,Police Public Relations Officer in the state ,DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the incident happened last Sunday.
He said, “the suspects were coming from Ondo state, heading towards Lagos, but on getting to a point at Ode-Remo, due to dangerous driving, the vehicle hit a culvert and somersaulted.
“The three occupants, sustained varying degrees of injuries and they were rushed to hospital by the policemen from Ode-Remo divisional headquarters.
“While in the hospital, the DPO Ode-Remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi received an information that, the vehicle in question was snatched at gunpoint by the accident victims.
“Having received the information, the DPO quickly ordered that they should be placed under arrest right in the hospital.
“The owner of the vehicle who came all the way from Ondo state, explained that, he was accosted on the road by a gang of five men dressed like policemen, and that he was dragged out of the car at gunpoint and the vehicle was taken away.
“One of the suspects, identified as Emeka John later died while receiving treatment.
“The remaining two, Sunday Emmanuel and Idris Ibrahim were ordered to be transferred to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department by the Commissioner of police, Edward Ajogun, for onward transfer to Ondo state command where they will be prosecuted.
