A video trending on Facebook showing how late Sylvester Oromoni posthumous birthday was celebrated has been widely criticised.
The video showing the parent of the deceased celebrating and laughing at the moderate party did not go down well with many who believed such was anti cultural and not the best way to mourn.
One Oluwaseun Margaret Adekanmi wrote:Sly nko syl ni…..this family is something else ….you allow this boy video in pain to be littered everywhere then his picture in death joined too. Yes we mourn differently but this is a slap on our faces….we have been praying and shouting for justice but you all here with smiles cutting cake? Where is the mother? Why not do this solemnly?why not do this after a year. The sanity of this country is gone. Where’s our humanity?
Another person commented thus,
Was this necessary at all? Did you see the smile on the face the dad had on his face throughout the duration of this so called birthday party? Are you sure the parents have not killed this boy for rituals? I lost my only son less than 2years ago but I continue to shed tears almost daily for him. The organizers of this even are the most senseless humans God ever created. They are yet to even know the details of their kid’s death but they’re here marking his birthday. The parents should be interrogated by the police.
