Mr Wale Raji, representing Epe federal constituency, Mr Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency 1, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, Aladeshanyin of Odo-Noforija and Prof. Nosirudeen Onibon, Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, in Epe Division, have commended Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for upgrading Lagos colleges to a full fledged University.
The stakeholders made the commendation in a separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, on Friday, in Epe.
NAN reports that on Dec. 2nd, the Lagos State Government has announced the upgrading of Lagos state polytechnic to Lagos state university of science and technology.
Similarly, upgraded Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education into Lagos State University of Education.
Oba (Dr) Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, in Epe Division, applauded the Lagos state government decision in converting Michael Otedola College of Primary Education into a University.
The Oba said that such decision was timely and It would be the best interest of Epe community and Lagos state at large.
Also, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshanyin of Odo-Noforija, in Epe Division, said that such decision would help to reposition education sector in Epe Division and in Lagos state at lsrge.
“The development will serve as an opportunity for our NCE graduates to further more in their educational career.
“I will advise the students and indigenes to shun cultism and social vices while studying and fave their educational career squarely, ” he said.
Ogunlaja promised to work closely with the government and the college/university management to ensure a peaceful learning environment.
Mr Wale Raji, Federal lawmaker, representing Epe Federal Constituency, said that it was not out of place for the upgrading of the colleges into a full fledged University.
“It is long over due and we thank God it is now realistic and accomplish one.
“I hailed Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and the Lagos state lawmakers for such initiative and decision taken.
“It is indeed a laudable verdict and I implore all our youths from Epe Division and beyond to make best use of the development to better their lives and upgrade their education career, ” he said.
Another Lawmaker, Mr Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency 1, expressed his enthusiasm towards the Lagos state government decision.
He added that, it wasn’t easy in the green chamber debating on the upgrading of the colleges into a University.
“But today, It is a done deal. I appreciate and commends all my dear colleagues in the chamber for their unfleshing support to make it a reality.
“I will not fail to appreciate our walkaholic Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and other Executive arms of government.
“We appreciate you all and to my religious and political leaders, Traditional rulers and the vibrant youths of Epe Division. I appreciate you all for standing by.
“I promise to continue representing Epe community in good light and to use my good office to attract development into Epe Division.
“I urge my people to keep believing in my quality representation and promise never to let them down, ” he said.
However, Prof. Nosirudeen Onibon, Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, applauded the Lagos state government giant strides in converting the college into a University.
He said without iota of doubt, the college deserves to be converted into a full fleged University.
“We have a well trained personnels, a capable hands, Phd holders as lecturers, modern day infrastructure, well equipped ICT centre, e-library.
“Among other facilities put in place in the college to worth upgrading into a University, ” he said.
Onibon exalted the efforts of Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, Mr Abiodun Tobun, Representing Epe Constituency 1, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara.
Others as: the college management, the college union and other prominent sons and daughters of Epe Division.
“I will also like to appreciate specially, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor and other members of the executive for their kind decisions and support.
“May God bless everyone of you all and as the college Provost, I will ensure that the institution maintain the standard to the best of University practices, ” he said. .
