President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the long-awaited Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2021 into law.
The President signed the amendment bill into law at 12:25pm at a brief ceremony attended by Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila of the House of Representatives among others.
He said the signed document came with a great deal of improvement as It will “engender transparency to our electoral process.”
Buhari, however, asked the National Assembly to rework on the provisions that barred political appointees from electoral contest so that it could be in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
