At least one person was killed on Saturday when bandits invaded Kaduna International Airport and prevented a passenger plane which was already taxing from taking off.
Security sources said the passenger aircraft was a Lagos-bound Azman plane.
This is coming months after bandits invaded Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), killing two senior army officers and abducting one other.
The NDA is not far away from the airport- all located in what is now considered as hot spot of banditry in Kaduna state.
A staff of one of the federal agencies hinted that the deceased was a staff member of NAMA.
“The bandits came to the airport through the back where NAMA offices where located. They shot dead of the staff of the agency,” he said.
Another source said the AZMAN aircraft couldn’t take-off because of the presence of dozens bandits along the runway.
The AZMAN aircraft could not take off at around 12.30pm because of the presence of the bandits on the runways of the airport.
It was learned that combined team of military personnel have repealed the bandits attack.
The airport staff said about 10 trucks of solders were deployed to the airport as reinforcement.
