The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Lagos State Chapter has confirmed the election of Mr. Donatus Ogbonnaya as its new President.
Ogbonnaya’s emergence followed the tenure expiration of the immediate past President of the association, Prof. Godwin Oyedokun who is now elevated as the chairman of the board of the association.
Similarly, the group also approved the elections of Dr. Titilayo Fowokan as its Vice President I and Dr Lydia Ajayi as Vice President II.
The elections were concluded at the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that held in Lagos recently.
Ogbonnaya is a Banking and Finance graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University and a PhD student at the prestigious University of Pretoria in South Africa.
He is a fully qualified professional with close to two decades hands-on experience in finance & accounting, internal control planning, compliance monitoring and human resource management.
He is a member of several professional bodies and a regular trainer on diverse fraud disciplines.
While addressing the new executives, Oyedokun charged them on capacity building and urged them to multiply their efforts at individual and organisational level to contain incidences of fraud which is growing by the leaps and bound in the country.
He worried that both Africa and Nigeria is losing up to $148bn and $2.5bn respectively to fraud on an annual basis, adding that there was need to intensify fight against fraud at all levels.
“Efforts should be geared towards building capacity of members continuously to ensure that members are proactive and abreast of trends in fraud techniques and ways to deal with them”
