A car carrying some persons and guns was reportedly intercepted at the entrance to the premises of Osun State High Court on Wednesday.
The incident happened while the tribunal hearing the petition from the July 16 Osun Governorship Election had commenced sitting for the day.
Owing to the tribunal sitting, security men were stationed at the entrance to the premises conducting checks on vehicles going into the compound.
An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said the vehicle allegedly carrying the guns was intercepted while making its way into the venue.
Upon the interception, he said police officers at the gate immediately moved the car and the occupants to the State Criminal Investigation Department at the Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo for further investigation.
When contacted, the spokesperson for Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
She, however, explained that those in the vehicle were local hunters working with the police.
She said, “They are local security personnel, hunters. They didn’t attack anyone. They are working together with police on security. There is no cause for alarm.
“They were heading to somewhere else before they were instructed to go to that place.”
