The Police in Kano state has confirmed the arrest of one ‘Evil Spirit’ , 32, for allegedly raping 40 women within one year in Kano
The suspect who is originally named Muhammad Zulfarau Alfa but called ‘evil spirit’ by victims, was arrested midnight, June 10, when he trespassed into a house at Kwanan Dangora Town in Kano, with intent to commit the heinous crime.
The arrest is coming when Nigerian authority was trying to tighten noose around rapists in the country.
Confirming the arrest,Kano state Police Spokesman,DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said, “it is true. We have him in our custody. We are parading him soon. People of Dangora are so happy for the arrest of the criminal,” he said.
According to him, the suspect who is also called “Mai Siket” have been trespassing into homes to have carnal knowledge of the victims for one year now.
He explained: “The suspect trespassed into a house at Kwanan Dangora town, and entered the children’s bedroom, in the process the mother of the kids caught him and alerted the neighbours.
“The suspect ran away but was caught by neighbours and handed over to the police.”
Haruna said that in the course of the investigation, the suspect admitted raping over 40 women in the past year, adding that some of the victims included children and an 80-year-old woman.
He informed that the State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Ahmad, had ordered the suspect to be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence Department (SCID) for investigation.
The suspect would be charged to court after investigations.

second reading in the Senate.
