The embattled suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, may have been left to carry his cross alone as he was said to have stepped on toes of senior police officers who could have assisted him in any way in his present travail.
Magu who is a Commissioner by police ranking was said to have rebuffed the Inspector General of Police on many occasions and even failed to attend police meetings severally.
Sources also claimed that Magu who was once the beloved of President Buhari may have equally stepped on the toe of the President as he( the President) was battle ready to block any corner that could buy justice for the embattled policeman.
Vanguard reported that Magu is facing trial before the presidential investigation panel over allegations of corruption and has failed to sleep in the cell of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID).
He was said to have found an abode in the mosque within the premises of the police headquarters where he has reportedly spent four night.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has reportedly warned serving ministers, senior police officers and top government officials not to be seen offering any assistance over the case.
Reports also have it that security around FCID, zone 10 has been tightened since Magu was detained while extra efforts have been made to scrutinize both officers and men working there including visitors.
It was also gathered that the police management team met yesterday and took far-reaching decisions over Magus’s trial.
