Eyo Charles, the Daily Trust Journalist who was verbally attacked by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode has broken silence on the issue.
The unfortunate incident was said to have happened last week Thursday and not today as many had thought.
The attack occurred in Calabar, Cross River State when the former minister was briefing reporters on his tour of projects in the South-South state.
Many had wondered why the reporter did not talk about the incident before today.
Speaking, Charles said he apologised because he was disorganised.
He said he was forced to do so when other reporters queried him on why he asked the question.
“The question was sir, you said you have gone round six or seven states to inspect projects undertaken by those governors, and now you are here in Cross River state, rounding off your one-week visit to Governor Ayade. Who is bankrolling you?”, he said.
The reporter added that FFK later called his editor in Daily Trust and recommended his sack.
He added that he regretted apologising to Mr Fani-Kayode over the incident.
“I am 53, he is not much older than me. I am not a child, I am an adult and I have children,” he said.
