Bar. Babatunde Seriki, Commissioner, Civil Service Commission, Lagos state, has condemned the attack of hoodlums against voters at the just concluded All Progressive Congress(APC) primary election that held last Saturday.
Seriki during a press conference held in Epe on Monday frowned at the atrocities perpetrated by hoodlums and undercover human being in the just concluded APC primary election.
“The act is not a display of true democracy, It is a condemneable disposition that needed to be discourage in our society.
“Some people use hoodlums and thugs to perpetrate the evil act, which is common, mostly during election, which is becoming a norms but very devastating act, ” he said.
He said that, he was a card carrier member of All Progressive Congress, an astute politician, a community/party leader and the present Commissioner from Epe Division.
“As a leader and a serving commissioner in Lagos state, I won’t allow any unruly act in my domain.
“Our party, APC is a peaceful and progressive party, I will not allow anybody to drag the integrity of the party into the mud, hence, requires me to condemn such violent act displayed in the just concluded election, ” he said.
Seriki expressed his displeasure over a viral allegation by Mr Adedoyin Adesanya, the incumbent Chairman of Epe Local Government, accusing him of sponsoring thugs to disrupt the just concluded election.
He said that such allegation was false, trecherous and erroneous.
He said that as APC member and a party leader, he has the right to support any candidate of his choice.
“I am not supporting the incumbent Chairman of Epe local government doesn’t warrant him, the Chairman to be spreading propaganda about his personality on the social media.
“Alleging him wrongly is unlawful, unruly and defamatory, which is uncalled for.
“I therefore, give the Chairman, Mr Adedoyin Adesanya 72hours to retract the statement and tender unreserved apology via social media, otherwise, legal action will be taken, ” he said.
Seriki said that, he never sponsor any thugs or hoodlums to distort election process/exercise.
He added that, as a leader, I monitor the election through the feedback from party members who are in other wards.
“I never go to any other wards to thwart election process.
“Meanwhile, election did not hold in any wards in Epe central. The exercise was thwarted by the activities of the hoodlums and undercover human being, ” he said.
He mentioned the wards in Epe community as, ward A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6, No election held in any of these wards.
The commissioner said that, he did not leave his polling unit for another ward, so, he wasn’t aware of such allegations.
He also enjoined all party faithful to keep calm and expect the party decision on who would be the flag bearer of the APC chairmanship candidate in Epe LG.
“All I am sure of is that, the will of the masses will prevail.
“My interest is to provide a good leader for the masses, who will listen to his people and gives a true governance, ” he said.
