Oba (Dr) Babatunde Ogunlaja Jp, Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija, in Eredo-Epe Division, empowered no fewer than 40 indigenes of his community with sewing machines and other vocational equipment for their sustainability and self reliance.
Ogunlaja disclosed this while handing over the equipment to the indigenes in his palace, in Noforija-Epe Division, on Monday.
According to him, an idle mind is a devil’s workshop, therefore, the best one can do for an idle mind was to empower them with handwork, equipment, working tools, and machinery that will keep them busy.
He added that by so doing would abstain them from involving in violence, hooliganism, and other social vices that might cut their lives short.
He said that he would not stop his quest in supporting his people to be successful in life.
“My joy is to see people successful in life because I want my children to be successful as well.
“Therefore, whatever good things I wish for my children, so also I desire for other children.
“My children will also meet their helper wherever they are in life, ” he said.
The monarch mentioned some of his numerous achievements and human capital development interventions as; the distribution of food palliative to the needy in the community, numerous youth empowerment, financial support for the indigene’s students and non-indigenes, financial support to boat operators within the community, and improvement of security surveillance within the community among several others.
“I have been doing this intervention program support, youth empowerment, financial assistance to the downtrodden and other forms of human capital and community development for many years and I will not relent effort in doing so, ” he said.
Ogunlaja congratulated President-elect, Bola Tinubu, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and other elected officers for their victory in the just concluded general elections.
He enjoined them to keep serving the people in their best capacity and also to continue extending the dividend of democracy to the good people of Epe Division and beyond.
