Following a tip-off that some armed terrorists had invaded some parts of Oyo, security agents claimed to have arrested five suspects who were reportedly caught with human parts.
This was after Aare Ona kakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams raised an alarm that armed terrorists have occupied Kishi, a town North West of Oyo State, and the Old Oyo National Park.
A statement issued by information Officer of Olorunsogo Local Government, Igbeti, Oyo State, Ayankunle Emmanuel Ayankolade, stated that the arrest was made after a joint security meeting held in the office of the Area Commander of the Nigerian Police, Igbeti Area Command, in Igbeti, the Headquarters of Olorunsogo Local Government.
The statement reads, “it was observed that the bombardment and strategic combing of the Old Oyo Forest Reserve by security agents and the local vigilante was successful as five suspects were arrested alongside another one caught with human parts in his possession, as the onslaught, bombardment and strategic combing of the Old Oyo Forest Reserve continues.”
“The local government thanked the state government, traditional rulers for their steadfastness and giving kudos to Local Government vigilante groups, OPC, ASAKAYE Group, as well as local hunters, the Area Commander, ACP Adedeji Taiwo, for providing necessary logistics for the success of the strategic security engagement.”
“The Area Commander, therefore called for calm as all hands are on deck to ensure that all the bandits and cattle rustlers are flushed out of the forest and equally thanked the good people of Olorunsogo, Oorelope and Irepo Local Governments, for keeping faith with security agents and the leadership of the various Councils.
The Parrot reported that about three weeks ago, raised alarm on how ISIS members have invaded Lusada forest in Oyo state .
According to him, the unknown were out to implement attack in the South West region and called on Federal government to rise to the threat.
