“At every turn, our uniformed Police Officers attached to our so called VIP are always at the receiving end. They run all manner of errands from:
Bathing dogs
dropping and picking up children from school
Carrying bags
Carrying food at parties
Pushing road users of the road by driving recklessly
Illegal arrest and sometimes manhandling of perceived enemies of their bosses. The list is endless.
All of these are done with impunity and by extension tarnishing the image of the Police Force. In view of all these infractions and abuses, the Inspector General of Police should forthwith withdraw its men and women from VIP duties.
Daily the moral and integrity of the officers of the Force is being eroded AND demoralized, yet those whose duty it is to tame this tide are carried away by the monies paid to them by these so called VIPS.
We cannot afford to have our Police Officers run errands like mere house helps. They are trained and maintained with tax payers money so they can maintain order, protect lives and properties of the citizens.
This mindset needs to be changed urgently.”
Meanwhile, this is not the first time the police claimed to have been withdrawing officers from VIP.
The force in 2018 and 2020 issued a statement to this effect
