When popular Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, performed at a crowded concert in Abuja recently , many had expected that the musician, like his co- artiste, Funke Akindele like will be invited to court.
Surprisingly, the singer has been walking freely in the society as though nothing had happened and posting all manner of things on his social media page that do not suggest pentience.
As expected, the Federal Government has served a due punishment to the the owner of the jet that conveyed the singer to Abuja for the controversial concert.
Showing remorse after he was suspended from operations, Chairman of Executive Jets Chairman, Sam Iwuajoku said, ” When i went through the manifest and I saw Fashola Babatunde, I thought it was the Hon. Minister of Works going to Abuja so we decided to do the flight since he is a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I never knew his jet was airlifting “useless people”.
Just like the jet operator, it was expected that the erring performer will be served due penalty, may be tomorrow.
Marley never apologized neither was he dealt with by the law. Again, his reaction to the issue many considered to be too arrogant.
He wrote on his Twitter page,”Do you know that over 20,000 Marlians travel by executive jets a month. We won’t be using your useless airline again for calling us useless. Thank God we didn’t crash on that flight sha because we nearly did”.
By the way, we didn’t book the flight ourselves.
“They asked for our names on the jet though and your pilot is a Marlian and everybody there is a Marlian too. My name is Azeez Adeshina Fashola and my lil brothers name is Moshood Babatunde Fashola and you were begging me to tag y’all.”
It would be recalled that in April, Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Rasheed Bello, alias JJC Skillz,were arrested and subsequently charged to court for partying during COVID-19 lockdown.
Not just was the Nollywood penalised and fined for the act that was largely condemned by all and sundry, she humbly apologised.
Marley’s impunity from the law is considered dangerous for this delicate period considering what flouting the COVID-19 safety measures means to national and individual wellness.
A concerned Nigeria, Maria Owolabi, said, “This kind of act must not go unpunished. He needs to be taught a lesson to serve as deterrence to others, otherwise, many will follow suit with the belief that government will overlook their actions.”
