Chief organiser of Epe fish festival, Tele Olukoya has called for partnership from stakeholders to host the epoch annual event, scheduled to hold in November 27th and November 29th in Epe Division.
Olukoya made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Epe, on Tuesday.
The organiser said that the Lagos state Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has approved the annual event since 2020 but was unable to hold due to COVID-19 pandemic saga ravanging the country that year.
He said that the organisers has concluded plans to hold it this year around November.
“All plans are on top gear to hold the annual event.
“The event will be a mind blowing event and first of its kind in Epe Division, ” he said.
Olukoya said that the festival would reposition the face of tourism industry in the Division.
According to him, It will create employment opportunity for the indigenes, boost Gross Domestic Product and increases government Internal Generated Revenue(IGR).
He said that the 3-days event would hold at Epe jubilee chalet, Epe waterfront and Epe recreational centre respectively.
He said that the purpose of the festival was to unite the people of Epe Division together and to foster stronger tiers and corporation among the sons and daughters of the Division.
“It will serve as a gate way to tourism and cultural development in the ancient community.
“It will also attract thousand of local and international tourists, visitors and investors into the community.
“It will showcases he rich cultural, tourism and arts potential embedded in the community, ” he said.
Olukoya said that the five community that made up Epe Division would participates in the annual event.
He mentioned the five communities which includes: Eredo, Epe central, Ikosi-Ejirin, Ibeju and Lekki area.
Olukoya also mentioned the activities on the 3-days event, such as; Fish farming/hunting, fishing competition, fishmanea, cultural display, music, street parade, boats regatta, dance and food.
He said that the event would put Epe Division in tourism and culture world map.
Olukoya called on corporate organisations, sponsors, private and public firm and federal and Lagos state government to support in executing the million of naira worth of project.(NAN).
